Client Interview | Atlanta Boudoir photographer

One of my favorite lines from this client interview is that she said "All of my fears were put to rest".

We work really hard to make sure that you don't leave nearly as terrified as you probably were when you walked into the studio. From showing you images THAT DAY to making sure you were heard in the weeks leading up to the shoot, we are serious over-communicators and over-complimenters.

Don't believe me? Send us an email. Count the exclamation points. Print out the paragraphs. I think we write every client a novella. All of this is for you, so that you have the same (or better!) experience than you'll read about below.

Read on... :)

1) How old are you... or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

I was 40 at the time of the photo shoot

2) What do you do for a living?

I am a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist)

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

At 40 years old, I finally feel confident and sexy in my own skin and I wanted to document this year for myself.  Surprising my husband with the book of sexy photos was another fun reason too!!

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

I was a little nervous about how comfortable I would feel being semi and/or fully nude in front of someone I had just met.  All my fears were put to rest, though, once I met Sarah.  She was like a good friend I had known forever!  I was also concerned that I wouldn’t be able to “have that sexy look” without laughing or looking goofy, but Sarah knows exactly how to coach you through the process and ends up with the most AMAZING photos!!

5) Why did you choose OWN?

I chose OWN because of the obvious quality of the work I saw online.  I loved the classy studio, the way that each of the clients looked in their photos, and the obvious comfort that each person had.  I couldn’t wait to see what kind of magic she produced during my session!

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

I was WAY more comfortable than I thought I would be!!  I think the champagne helped a little too….that was such a treat.  Also, the session itself was tiring.  I have a new respect for lingerie models now.  Getting into some of the poses, and holding them while Sarah shoots the photos is an actual workout!  Now I know why she advises people to eat before they come.  It is hard work and you will need your energy…..but SOOOO fun at the same time!!

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

Doing the shoot was super fun (I felt sexy the rest of the week after it was over), but seeing the images when they were finished was definitely the BEST part.  My husband’s face was a close 2nd when I presented him with the photos!!

8) How has the response been to your images?

Every single person I’ve shown the images to has asked for the name of the person who did them.  They have all said that these photos could be used in a magazine!

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

Just DO IT!!!!  Don’t wait until you lose 10 more pounds, or have a little tan, or wait until your hair grows out a little.  Do it right now!!  Sarah is a magician and will make you look amazing, despite any little imperfections that every single woman worries about.

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

Seeing myself in some of these photos made see myself in a different light.  Seeing the different angles and shape of my body from a different perspective was eye opening and has made me have more confidence in myself.  I honestly never knew I could look like that!!

I bet you've been wondering about these questions | Atlanta boudoir photographer

Unless you're like me, chances are a boudoir session isn't something you see or do every day. Heck, I don't even 'do' a boudoir session every day. If it IS something that you do every day, then why are you reading this? You know everything! Shoo!

I kid.

Most of my clients, be it here in Atlanta, midtown Manhattan, or downtown Chicago have come in to a boudoir session being on the edge of clueless. Have no fear, people! We're here for ya!

Here are some FAQ's that you may be thinking or may not think to ask that will be helpful when you've got boudoir on the brain:

  1.  Where are we doing this?

    • Piedmont park. Just kidding- Most boudoir sessions take place in my studio in midtown Atlanta :)  When I travel for sessions I will book a studio or a shooting space at my discretion, although anyone (here or there!) with an awesome idea for a shooting location can absolutely let me know! I've photographed at hotels (like the above image), private homes, and secluded beaches and parks. There will be music, even if I have to sing it, your beverage of choice, and a lot of awkward posing that miraculously looks like a photoshoot for Vouge.
  2. How many changes of clothes should I bring?

    • While the amount of wardrobe that we'll use for your session varies on the type of package we book for you, I always recommend bringing 2 additional wardrobe changes in case something doesn't work out. My client manager, Kelsey, will assist you almost immediately after booking with what to wear and where to shop. We'll curate your wardrobe for you BEFORE you arrive so that you aren't stuck backing up a U-Haul full of Nordstrom bags to my studio door. I also have a boudoir closet in-studio and that I tote with me from city to city. You are welcome to substitute your wardrobe with anything from my collection!
  3. Will it just be the two of us during the shoot?  Assistants or anyone else there?

    • Usually it will just be the two of us, but occasionally Ryan Gosling stops by. :)
  4. How much "airbrushing" do you do?

    • I like some airbrushing, but I won't make you look unrecognizable. I am no stranger to stretch marks, c-section scars, liposuction scars, battle wounds, cellulite, pocks, or accident marks. Life throws things at us all of the time and sometimes our bodies get caught in the middle. It'll be up to you on what I do and don't take out. Once your session is booked, or even before, just let me know if there is anything you'd like for me to pay attention to.
  5. I bought this corset kind of thing...can you help me get into it if I can't get in myself?

  • In shorter terms: Yes. It's my job to be there for you to figure out which strap goes where, whether or not your lingerie is upside down, and to staple you in to a corset if I need to. I can help you get into anything. We'll be really close by the end of the shoot.
