Boudoir Client Interview - a photographer's perspective!

1) How old are you... or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

 I am a proud 27 year old.

2) What do you do for a living?

 I am a PHOTOGRAPHER!

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

My husband definitely had asked for pictures before, but I don't do anything "for" anyone else :). I did it for me... and (as a side bonus), a HUGE surprise to my hubby for our eighth anniversary.

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

I absolutely had fears about this session. I am a mother of two and bare the scars to prove it. I have struggled with self image issues like most women, for as long as I can remember. Regardless of how little or big I was I always thought I wasn't pretty for some reason or another. SO, to face that fear of not feeling pretty enough in front of someone I had only met once TERRIFIED ME! It was also pretty difficult to keep this a secret from my husband. He is my best friend I tell him EVERYTHING! HA.

5) Why did you choose OWN?

I chose OWN because being a photographer myself I have extremely HIGH standards of portraiture. Meaning I wanted and expected the best... AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I GOT! It took months for me to decide on doing a shoot in general, and literally seconds on choosing OWN to do my shoot. When I saw the website and variety of women OWN photographed, I was extremely confident that I could look beautiful too!

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

One of the things that surprised me a little about the session was the amount of time taken with me before we even took ONE photo. I think it was common knowledge that I was EXTREMELY nervous and unsure of myself. I was rushing myself in my head - and Sarah was NOT rushing me at all! I am so thankful for that time to help me relax! It made all of the difference in the world.

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

My FAVORITE PART???? Hmmm... this may be the most difficult question. Well believe it or not, I really enjoyed being behind the camera for once. It gave me so much insight into so many things. And for that time I felt very sure of myself which was weird but very empowering. AND OF COURSE I LOVED SHOWING MY IMAGES TO MY HUSBAND! His face was priceless.

8) How has the response been to your images?

The response(s) to my images were like my own reaction, but 10 times more if you can even imagine! Every single person that has seen them, the first question out of their mouth is quote on quote "GASP WHO DID THESE THEY ARE AMAZING!"

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

My advice is to put your insecurities aside, as hard as it may be. Every woman wants to feel beautiful and this amazing woman/company can do just that. TRUST the professional to do her job. I WANT EVERY WOMAN OUT THERE TO KNOW THAT IF I DID IT YOU CAN TOO! Invest in yourself. OWN your body!

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

I can honestly say that I am so thankful for my images. I can see what my husband sees! When I am struggling with my self image, I grab my album and remember I am beautiful! I want to send a HUGE thank you to Sarah for making me feel this way when for so long I didn't. My only regret is not doing it SOONER!
