So how did we get started with boudoir? | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

As we sit down, sip champagne, jam to Duo Lipa, and start the hair and makeup process I know that there is a 99% chance that the client will look at me with an inquisitive eye and ask this question.
“So how did you even get started shooting ‘boudoir’?”
The boudoir field of photography isn’t exactly a common field for portrait photographers to get their initial start. Most portrait photographers (and photographers in general) that I know all started out with the same few types of jobs: weddings, engagement shoots, family sessions, headshots….etc. I ALSO started out with those types of photo shoots, and boudoir wasn’t on my radar at all, mostly because it wasn’t even in my vocabulary. I still struggle with pronouncing ‘boudoir’ and it’s my actual career!
My journey of becoming a boudoir photographer is an interesting one, and one that I absolutely love to sit down and share. My journey is unconventional and I did a lot of things ‘wrong’ from a photographer’s perspective. However, I don’t believe that there are certain and set paths to anyone’s career. If you have a goal the best thing that you can keep doing is move forward, one step at a time without taking pit-stops at other people’s opinion bays.
I was recently interviewed by the Find you Focus podcast and discussed my journey, my tips, and my experience. Whether or not your a photographer I hope you get a lot out of it! And if you’re a client: here’s the answer to the question that you’ll definitely ask me ;)
