My OWN heart: Inspiration

Over the last month or so I’ve been out of town for about 3.5 of the 4 weeks. I’ve been with family, friends, and more recently strangers that became my friends.

This last week was extra important to me and was the final breath in my month of ‘rest’. I’ve had a busy year to process and had it not been for a week on the Oregon coast with a few other like-minded strangers (read: friends, now), I don’t think I would have been able to finish thinking about how 2014 grew and where 2015 would take me.

It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to pick up my ‘real’ camera when I’m not working. A week in Costa Rica at the New Year finally allowed me to rest my eyes and mind enough to take in the beauty around me, but all I wanted to do was take it in… I didn’t want to photograph it.

In Oregon we were in our 6th day before the fog dropped and I so desperately wished that I’d had my camera. I longed for my camera! My mind was finally clear and seeking out new inspiration and seeing new beauty and bookmarking the potential in my surroundings.

Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera…only my iPhone (which isn’t a bad thing to have #appleplug). I built up the courage to ask a fellow friend-who-used-to-be-a-stranger if I could borrow her camera and take it onto the 45degree Oregon beach as the rain was pouring and the tide was rapidly coming in. She trusted me and then by a miracle two additional friends decided that they trusted me, too. They followed me out to the icy beach (or really, they ran) and we gritted our teeth as the rain poured down and the temperature dropped.

We were cold, but we were so inspired.

And now my heart is warm, and I am still so inspired.

Love, Sarah
