After dark (and work!) | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

How do you boudoir images look when you're coming in for your boudoir session in Atlanta during the winter, or even after work?

Here in Atlanta not only has it gotten significantly colder in the past few days, but in the past few weeks it seems like it's getting significantly darker at... oh, say 3PM????????

What is this nonsense?

Of course, it isn't actually getting dark at 3pm, more like 5:30 or so, but for this Atlanta boudoir photographer it definitely means that a lot of our boudoir sessions must take place after dark.

When our clients are searching for inspiration photos for their boudoir session it is often that a majority of them will have a bright, lighter feel to them. For someone who is coming in after work, say 6pm, for their session we KNOW they are worried that the images they really love will be near impossible to get.

Fear not! The great power of lighting is to the rescue! Leave it up to us to whip up some lighting sorcery for your session so that if you can't make it into the studio until after work you are still able to have an amazing set of images that YOU love.

*Disclaimer: I can't fake a sun-filled window at 7pm at night, so maybe let's forgo those images ;)

Here are some examples of recent night-time boudoir session

Wine down | Atlanta Boudoir

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

We all want to be this hot while drinking wine, right? Also... replace "wine" with smoothie, coffee, water, SmartWater (bc it's diff than regular water), or literally any emulsified substance. This boudoir session had us tipping our hats to the natural state of her existence: Wine and sweaters!!!!

Also: this sweater is in our boudoir closet...and it is from amazon...AND it is $12.

Happy holidays, you're welcome ;)

Hanging in there | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Hey guys, it's the weekend, it's the end of the year, and it is COLD. We're all stressed. Our bodies hurt, our emotions hurt, our schedules are screaming at us. As a boudoir photographer (and a boudoir photographer in ATLANTA) this month has been crazy. Add the snow in there (oh yeah, ATL got some dust) and you have a logistical nightmare.

Hang in there.

We're all in it together and we will all come out on the other side!!!

Enjoy this time and try to see joy in all of the chaos of December. Because, LAWD, ain't it chaotic?

Lova ya,

Sarah

Outdoor boudoir? | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Well, it is snowing HEAVILY in Atlanta right now. We aren't known for having much snow, although there was that one time when the entire city shut down (and gave us an SNL debut).

Usually the weather lasts all of 24hrs here, and so I don't expect the snow to stick much longer than tomorrow afternoon...but OMGGGGG I would absolutely love to do a snowy boudoir session!! Can you imagine? Outdoors, the ground and trees covered in white, one lucky lady freezing her ass off for a set of unique images. I even have a faux-fur coat I could use! We don't get these opportunities in Atlanta!

Alas... that will not happen, but it does have me thinking that I'd love to schedule a few outdoor boudoir experiences during 2018. My brain is swimming with amazing ideas for where to shoot! A cabin in the woods? What about a secluded beach house? City-scape rooftop? A JUNKYARD?!!

AHHH!!!! Ya'll, give me ideas...where do you want to go??? What appeals the most to you?

Do I need to bring my own lingerie? A FAQ post | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Outside of "will you tell me what to do with my face?" likely our second most-asked question is "Do I need to bring in my own lingerie?".

This question probably gets asked by 90% of my clients. Think about it: lingerie shopping isn't nearly as habitual as your weekly trip to Target (that always ends in buying an entirely new wardrobe). Lingerie is an afterthought for us, and I'll bet some of you still have underwear from 2012. (guilty). The thing is, lingerie is often an afterthought. If it is an afterthought then OF COURSE you probably don't have any. Then, you book your boudoir session and suddenly the panic sets in.

"Oh lawd, I don't have any lingerie aside from an old Victoria's secret robe that I bought in college for that boyfriend that definitely didn't deserve me"

Well, you're in luck because we are here to help.

The answer to the "do I need to bring in my own items" is both ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

atlanta boudoir photography, boudoir wardrobe ideas, sweater boudoir, tall socks boudoir, atlanta boudoir

Bringing your own lingerie is crucial if you have specific pieces and styles that you are really wanting to be photographed in because I may not be able to match them with the items I have in my boudoir closet.

In my boudoir closet (in-studio! These are not my personal lingerie pieces :) ) I do have corsets, button-up shirts, fur shawls, lace and satin robes, some one-pieces, garter belts, and replacement panty hose/thigh highs, and high-heels. We are constantly updating the closet, and often clients will leave their lingerie with us as a donation. Woo hoo!!! Fret not, though, it's all cleaned.

atlanta boudoir photography, boudoir wardrobe, wardrobe ideas, boudoir poses, classy boudoir atlanta

For the most part if you ARE looking for a specific lingerie look you will need to bring in those pieces, but if you are interested in just ‘showing up’ and living on the other side of my lens I can absolutely help you out in the wardrobe department...you may even find an item that you would have never tried before (like a garter belt!), but that ends up being your favorite!

Once your session is booked we have a completely open dialogue about your wardrobe. As we are planning, ask me what styles/sizes/etc we have have and if it would be available to you! Trust me when I say it will help you to not have to run around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to find a sheer fabric panel or 34 strands of pearls or body paint or black pumps or a lace robe or the perfect white button up or ______ or _____ or _____. You name it.

If you’d like to bring your own lingerie but have NO idea where to search for items that you need then check out this blog post on where to shop for your boudoir session! We can easily make a phone call for you and set up an appointment at one of our favorite stores :) You may even get a little discount incentive from them for being a referral!

It's the season for engagements (and hot chocolate, and long lines at the mall, and pine-scented candles, and sweatshirts that hide the extra pie-weight). And wouldn't you know it, with engagement season comes wedding season and wedding season brings brides!!!!! Funny how that happens.

These past couple of months have been packed with women coming in for their OWN boudoir session with the intention of giving the images as a wedding gift. It's such an amazing honor to be the creators of one helluva personal gift. Each bride has a unique story and style, so 'veil' pictures are never the same and the recipient always has a different reaction. My favorite trait about bridal boudoir, however, is that our bride's' 'gift for someone else' really becomes a gift for herself.

Read on to hear about this lovely bride's boudoir experience with us!

Bubbling with excitement | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Every now and then I get a wild and crazy idea (pleasseeee say that in the Two Wild and Crazy Guys voices).

For some odd reason my current wild and crazy idea has to do with altering the environment of my studio with mediums usually used for something else. Take for instance a fog machine. A Fog machine isn't exactly a typical boudoir studio feature. Mostly we're used to them at haunted houses, EDM shows, or our high-school proms. Lately, however, I've been wanting to bring in a fog machine for boudoir. No clue how this would work, it may end up looking more creepy than cool, but you never know until you try! I'm currently on hiatus from trying the fog machine until I figure out whether or not the sprinklers in my Atlanta boudoir studio would be triggered. That's one fast way to a headache and a mega bill from the fire department.

This past weekend while we were at my boyfriend's family's house, I saw a lonely little bubble machine sitting in the corner by another very lonely popcorn machine (more on that later). A lightbulb went off and I started dreaming of ways to use that giant neon-green and purple toy. A bubble machine could be completely cheesy and hilarious, or with the way light fractures and other science stuff, it could be AMAZZZZINNNNNGGGGG.

So, my boyfriend brought the bubble machine home. I stocked up on bubble fluid (which is gross and sticky BTW) and proposed to my client to let me experiment with her. I clarified that the experiment would happen after we got the kick-ass shots that she came to me for. She agreed, and so after her session we altered the studio environment with a 5-yr old's birthday party toy.

I LOVE the results and am dreaming up of other ways to use the lil bubs for boudoir. I'm making a list :)

Here is a sneak peek at what today's boudoir session's experimental phase looked like:

Lounging and such | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Lounging, looking amazing in the morning, feeling well read and rested. Etcetera etcetera etcetera.... Let's name this "real life boudoir"....this is totally what I looked like while 'black Friday' shopping here in Atlanta.

Shine bright like a diamond... | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

One of the most fun (I resisted the urger to say "funnest") parts of planning your boudoir session is that we get to plan your wardrobe.

My descriptive phrase for this portion of the planning process is: Adult Dress up

Of course, that phrase makes wardrobe planning sound a little more rated-R than it actually is, but hey.... sometimes we DO get a little R-rated for your boudoir session!

About a month ago we had a lovely lady come in for her 6th (sixth!!!) session with us. The challenge presented to us for this particular session was to make sure that her wardrobe planning, or adult dress-up, let us choose a wardrobe that was completely different than anything she has done with us.

Challenge accepted.

Immediately I thought about a rhinestone body-suit. I had seen a few during my Pinterest and Instagram browsing hours, and there are a few boutiques here in Atlanta that carry them. After we mentioned this idea we all knew that this was definitely the route we wanted to go with her wardrobe. Of course, sometimes when you have a brilliant idea the universe throws a wrench and you realize you've got to works a little harder for that idea.

With the rhinestone bodysuit we quickly discovered that they are a) Hard to find and b) extremely pricey due to them needing to be custom made. We didn't have that kind of time or budget, though, so an extreme brain-storming session needed to be had.

Cue the brilliant brain of my client manager (and wardrobe planner), Kelsey. She suggested that we create our own illusion of a rhinestone bodysuit by buying individual sheets of rhinestones and manually sticking them to the skin of our client. Brilliant.

Tedious...

....but brilliant.

The results were that we had an insanely unique boudoir look that we had full control over. I loveeeeeeee it. AND I got to keep the additional rhinestone sheets for my own adult dress-up.

Wardrobe idea: Wigs!!! | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

I don't know why I haven't thought of this before.

I've had wigs on my mind ever since I purchased a red wig for my Jessica Rabbit costume for Halloween. Amazon has also taken it upon themselves to keep wigs at the top of my 'suggested items' list. So, you know, they are still on my mind.

I pulled the trigger the other night and ordered a long platinum blonde wig for the studio. No clue how I'm going to use it, yet.... but someone come in and let me play around with it!!!

For now, it works for selfies:

Fur coat time... | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Here in Atlanta the temperatures have finally gotten below 75degrees (most of the time). What does that mean? It means we're in full swing for fall boudoir shoot time! This season is typically full of boudoir clients looking for wedding gifts, anniversary gifts, sexy photos for under the tree, and sexy photos "just because". I'm a huge fan of the "just because"... because I love to treat myself and I love when others treat themselves!

I love seeing the different lingerie items, and NON lingerie items, that grace the suitcases of my boudoir clients! This past weekend we got to play around with a fur coat. Holy moly glam, can we just say that she looks like she could strut down ANY red carpet that she needed to? Hell yes!!! I'm officially on board for bringing in fur coats to your boudoir session!

Curious about pricing and what we offer? Part 2 is here! | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

(This is a followup from yesterday's post, check it out if you haven't already)

Knowing that the holiday season is basically here (in Atlanta we've had an influx of 30degree days), I wanted to go in-depth with explaining the different types of boudoir sessions that we offer. Outside of the holidays, though, this is just damn-good information to have! Read through it all and you'll have successfully made me feel better about having taken 45min to write all of this down.

For those clients that are interested in having a more involved boudoir experience (and having everything taken care of all at one time) we offer our Premium session. This session type is our most popular as it helps take care of nearly everything you could want in a boudoir session.

The Premium boudoir session includes all that the Base session offers with a mountain of added bonuses.

When you book a premium boudoir session with us you’ll have five outfit changes (perfect for all of those different looks that you want to try out), an additional $100 in credit from the base session (giving you $200 to use toward any add-ons and products!), full professional hair and makeup done in-studio, AND a personal wardrobe consultation (woo hoo!!!!). Currently our Premium boudoir session usually lasts around 3.5-4 hours and is $700 (with a $200 credit toward products).

Let's talk more about that wardrobe consult. With the Premium session our wardrobe consultation starts immediately after we sign and seal your booking. Kelsey, our client manager extraordinaire, will set up a call (or your preferred method of communication, we are huge texters over here) with you to talk over your initial needs and wants. Don’t have any CLUE what you need or want? No prob, Bob. Her job is to figure that out with you! From then on Kelsey is available almost any time you need her. She’ll find certain styles for you, offer feedback when you’re out shopping, help you narrow down between which of your 15 black bras looks the best, etc. The wardrobe consultation is like having a personal stylist on retainer.

Outside of the big “what do I even wear for this” question, the next biggest question we get is about hair and makeup. I believe our clients usually ask something along the lines of "can you do something with....this?" (cue a casual wave of the hand in front of the face).

With the premium session hair and makeup is included, though hair and makeup can also be booked separately for those clients interested in the Base session! Our hair and makeup artists are extremely talented and beyond meticulous...which is fantastic for when I'm zoomed in on those eyelashes and brows.

There are about 6 artists that we have in rotation for our boudoir clients, all of which have been working with me for quite some time. They know exactly how I photograph my clients and aren't too prideful that I'm not comfortable saying whether or not I like something. We work together to make sure that your face and hair are recognizable to you (unless you want to look unrecognizable) and that it'll photograph beautifully. The whole hair and makeup process usually takes around 1.5-2hrs and is insanely involved. These pictures will be saved forever… so we try to make sure everything is perfect. We aren’t afraid to wipe it all off and start over if you completely hate you look (although that has never happened before).

Before your session, during one of your many wardrobe conversations, you and Kelsey will have talked through the “look” that you’re going for. We send those pictures (along with a picture of your face) to our makeup artist so that she is fully prepared the day of your session, and so that she can let us know of any issues or red flags she sees for what you have chosen!

atlanta boudoir session, boudoir session atlanta, atlanta boudoir pricing, boudoir session prices, boudoir photographer atlanta, atlanta boudoir, corset boudoir wardrobe

And there ya have it, folks ;) That may have been WAYYYYYY too much information, but if you made it all of the way through you'll be more prepared and basically a professional at this whole 'boudoir ' thing.

....stay tuned for the next part!

Here are the different types of boudoir sessions we offer (Part 1) | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Now that Halloween has come and gone it is basically December and basically Holiday season, right? Seriously though, I saw a Target commercial yesterday... on November 1st... for Christmas. It's only 1-ish month until we start the traditional gift-giving ritual of gathering together to over-indulge on pie whilst drowning in an ocean of wrapping paper. I can't wait!

boudoir atlanta, atlanta boudoir session, boudoir lingerie ideas, atlanta boudoir photographer, boudoir pose ideas, boudoir posing, atlanta boudoir., boudoir pricing atlanta, atlanta plus size

Every year we get the privilege of booking up our holiday season with clients that cannot wait to give the gift of their boudoir photos. Of course we also have plenty of clients that are GIFTED a boudoir session by someone that loves them (or is just the best gift-giver ever). I wanted to show off the different boudoir session types that we offer so that when booking for the holidays (or for any time!) you can know exactly what your boudoir session will include, as well as determine which session is right for you!

chicago boudoir session, boudoir photography atlanta, atlanta boudoir photographer, best boudoir photography, boudoir atlanta, atlanta boudoir session

There are three main types of shoots that are available to book with OWN boudoir. When an inquiry for pricing and information comes in, it can be hard to discern which shoot is right for you and will serve your boudoir needs best… and yes I say NEEDS bc I’m a big fan of NEEDing to have a personal experience like this! You can be here in Atlanta or you can be in a completely different area (that photo above is from the Hotel Monaco in Chicago!).

boudoir atlanta, atlanta boudoir session, boudoir lingerie ideas, atlanta boudoir photographer, boudoir pose ideas, boudoir posing, atlanta boudoir.

The first thing you should know about booking a boudoir session with OWN boudoir is that all of our shoots (with the exception of one), and all products are priced a la carte. This means that when you book your boudoir session with me, you will book the session separately from any albums, prints, or digital images that you’ll get after your session!

I’ve chosen to operate with a la carte pricing because it allows you to have more flexibility over how you choose to display your boudoir images. Rather than forcing you into a package that includes a product you might not be crazy about, you have the choice over which products you take home with you! A la carte pricing is also great because you are also not required to make a purchase at all! What if (heaven forbid) you don’t like your images? First off, we would do your session again because that means I didn’t do my job correctly. Secondly, I don’t want you stuck with an album of images that you don’t love.

boudoir atlanta, atlanta boudoir session, boudoir lingerie ideas, atlanta boudoir photographer, boudoir pose ideas, boudoir posing, atlanta boudoir., boudoir pricing atlanta

Our first session that we offer - and what I'll be going over in detail today - is the Base session. I know, I know.... the name is boring, but let's just say I've saved my creativity for when I photograph you.

This session serves as the foundation for the other boudoir shoots that we offer. A base boudoir session with us gives you the most flexibility with add-ons and a la carte products. Currently, our Base session includes your boudoir session in-studio, three outfit changes, a $100 credit toward your a la carte products, and an in-person viewing appointment. Your viewing appointment happens about a week after your session and you'll see all of your final images fully edited and ready for selection.

boudoir atlanta, atlanta boudoir session, boudoir lingerie ideas, atlanta boudoir photographer, boudoir pose ideas, boudoir posing, atlanta boudoir., boudoir pricing atlanta, atlanta plus size

A Base session does not include hair and makeup, but as I mentioned above, it gives you the most flexibility toward customizing your session! With the base session you have the option of adding on additional outfit changes, hair and makeup (or one or the other!), and your product preference.

We get a lot of questions about how long our sessions are. While I do not give my sessions a time limit, a base boudoir session with me will typically last around one and a half hours. When you arrive in-studio, I’ll have your favorite music playing –loudly–, a selection of your preferred snacks and beverages (let's pop that champagne or inhale some gummy bears), and we’ll get right to work! We will have completely planned out your session before you arrive (more on this later!) so that we can start almost as soon as you enter the studio door (and after a glass of champagne).

The current pricing for your Base boudoir session with OWN boudoir is $400

(...to be continued... with more boudoir packages to come!)

Classic and timeless | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Piggy-backing off of yesterday's blog post that covered my newfound (or resurrected) love for photographing unique and sensual details during my client's boudoir sessions, here are a couple of images that immediately came to our minds.

What I'd love to do is print a series of detail images from my boudoir clients and hang them HUGE in my Atlanta studio. Why not decorate with your own work, right?

It's all in the details (right now) | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Today I had a little discussion with the OWN team (read: an extremely active group text between Larissa, Kelsey and I) about which boudoir images of mine stood out to us.

See, though we all work for the common goal of allowing each client to realize their OWN beauty, we have different opinions on how that is reached. I believe we used the phrases “hot-Sexy” vs “Beautiful-Sexy”. I know, I know… we are so original. Larissa gravitated more toward the “beautiful-sexy”, Kelsey more toward the “hot-sexy”, me… I gravitate toward the goal of my clients, and so I love it all!!!!! I appreciate when my boyfriend notices tiny details about me that he finds beautiful, but I also appreciate when he gets a little more graphic and makes a comment about my boobs.

atlanta boudoir, classy atlanta boudoir photography, own boudoir, detail boudoir, black and white boudoir

If you take one look at our website and instagram you’ll see that we’ve got a large mix of the “hot-sexy” and the “beautiful-sexy”. We have insanely suggestive and erotic images mixed in with the beautifully classic feminine silhouette, and let’s not forget the smiles… one of the MOST beautiful things you can wear (I’ll attribute that quote to Coco Chanel or Abraham Lincoln.. I don’t have enough internet connection right now to google it).

Lately I find myself being moved to photograph details.

Backs

Collar Bones

The little dimples above the butt

Bottom lips

Cute little moles*

Eyelashes

Hands

Little side roles

Thighs

Toes

The nape of the neck

Cheek Dimples

I could go on… but I digress… The goal of photographing the details of my clients, photographing the curve or her back, photographing the way she twists her hair… the goal is to make these boudoir images so specifically her OWN, so in tuned with the details that maker her herself, that she – or her love – immediately recognizes the details that are uniquely beautiful to her. Not only is she “hot-sexy”, she is “beautiful-sexy”, and for very specific reasons that she, and she only, owns.

*This “cute little moles” comment is in reference to a comment my boyfriend makes about a tiny little mole he loves that I have right smack-dab-in the middle of my neck.

"I was hella nervous" | Client Interview | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

A serious of emotions and reactions happen when another photographer emails you about having their boudoir session with you.

1) This must be a mistake

2) I better be nice, I don't want them to judge me

3) Really? ME?

4) Ok I guess they are serious. Breathe. Breathe.

5) OMGimsonervous

This situation was no different! When she emailed me and told me that I was the photographer for her I most definitely had a heart palpitation. I was like, "Wait, you're coming all of the way to Atlanta to have a boudoir session with ME?". She immediately responded: "Duh".

There is such an honor involved when another artist notices your craft and loves it enough to invest in it. You'll read in her interview that she was "Hella nervous!!"... but really, so was I. We were nervous for different reasons, but you'll have to read on to hear about hers

Take the leap,

Sarah

1) How old are you... or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

- 36 and jamming to No Doubt and TLC back then.  And still.

2) What do you do for a living?

- Underwater Portrait & Newborn Photographer

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

- While I've made self-portraits for a few years, after having my twin boys, I wanted to have something special for myself of myself - just as I am (but amped up thanks to the OWN team!).

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

- Yes, being on the other side of the camera freaked me F out! And with little to no clothes, at that! Haha

5) Why did you choose OWN?

- 100% the initial reaction to the feel of your portraits.  Shadows and light are on point, not only in making your girls look gorgeous but, to give that alluring feel of the atmosphere.  It's as if you capture exactly what we (real women!) envision our sexy and seductive self to be - without the cheesy elements.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

- I had a feeling, while I was hella nervous, it would be fun.  And Sarah didn't disappoint in the fun department.

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

- A mix of priming and the shoot.  You guys made me feel like a rockstar.

8) How has the response been to your images?

- EVERYONE I've shown LOVES them!! My husband absolutely loved them and was in awe.

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

- Do it.  Don't think twice.  The moment you're interested, and go see "what it's all about", just schedule it and do it.  That's the moment you have to take and run with it because you won't regret it.  It's empowering in an incredible way.

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

- After having my twins, 8 years ago, I've had a love/hate with my body.  Pregnancy (and marriage, haha) caused changes and while I've always embraced the stretch marks and looser tummy seeing it in this light made me realize just how beautiful it is that my body went through infertility treatments, carried two babies inside, nourished those two boys and has been able to keep up with their crazy energy, all with a side of sensuality.

For my clients (past, present, and future), this interview is even better for YOU. Booking your boudoir session, whether here in Atlanta, or elsewhere in the world should be one of those decisions where you have no doubts that the end results will be the best possible...for you. Do your research, explore styles, know what your options are. Find the best boudoir photographer for you... even if your friends like someone else! These are YOUR pics, not theirs.

1) How old are you... or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

I just turned 28 on Friday!

2) What do you do for a living?

I'm in Marketing for an Advertising-Technology company in Atlanta.

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

It's something I've always heard of people doing for their husbands-to-be, so I thought about doing it, just had no idea with who/when/how, etc. My friend, Elizabeth Pishal, told me about the shoot she did, and showed some of the photos, and I was convinced it was something I had to do.

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

Who doesn't? I was definitely nervous that the whole thing would be really awkward, and the privacy thing freaked me out a little bit, but it was something I wanted to do for my husband, and I'm SO glad I did.

5) Why did you choose OWN?

Elizabeth told me about her experience (and I saw her photos which were incredible). Another reason I chose OWN was the studio space. I LOVED IT. I have a few close friends that are photographers that offered to shoot my boudoir session (honestly, for a lower price than OWN), but the challenge was finding studio space that had that exposed-brick, dreamy lighting feel. That ended up being a lot more pricey & challenging than we thought, so at the end of the day OWN was a better deal. (Not to mention a much more professional, polished, 'she knows what she's doing' experience).

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! Seriously. I was realllllly nervous, especially about what to wear, how to pose, how to look not-awk, but Sarah was incredible! She made me feel completely comfortable (even in my skivvies), and told me exactly how to pose, what to do with my body, my face, etc. She took the 'do I look stupid right now?' feeling completely out of the experience, and made it so much fun. By the end of the session, I felt so comfortable in my lingerie that I didn't want to put regular clothes back on!

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

My favorite part was the shoot itself. I wasn't kidding about it being so fun. It was awesome. (His reaction was pretty good too though...).

8) How has the response been to your images?

Honestly, at first it was a lot of "I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT'S ME", which has become more, "YAAAS THAT'S ME". It's oddly empowering, and they definitely make me feel sexy, daring & confident.

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

Just go for it. I know it feels weird, even just having the word "Boudoir" pop up in your email inbox for the first time (*cringe*), but the session and results are SO worth it.

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

Not a change in the way I see my beauty, exactly, but the session definitely helped me feel more powerful, sexy and confident overall. I've never been someone that really beats myself up over appearance, but this has helped me see a different type of beauty that I'd never really embraced. So, thank you for that!!

A little Monday love for all of you... | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

I'm currently writing this blog post from the comfort of my sofa, a place in which I have been uncomfortable all day long due to a a series of poor decisions that ultimately led to me eating some bad pizza last night. Cue the 3am "uh oh" feeling and fill in the blanks for yourselves.

Since I HAVE been up all day long I've had a lot of time to think about the amazing boudoir sessions I've been able to shoot over the last few months. It's so rare that I get to sit down and mentally process what I've been shooting or how I've been challenged! What I discovered, as I was using my brain to think and occasionally moan, is that every.single.client over these past few months has been creatively challenging (in a great way!) to me! You've brought in amazing props, came in with unique narratives, brought me sweet treats (so manyyyyyyy sweet treats!), and challenged me to create images of you that were your OWN.

So basically I wanted to say "Thank you!!!!" for trusting me with creating intimate portraits for you. Intimate in nature, and intimate of the soul.

My birthday is next week and so I think I'll be especially reflective in the coming days.

Love y'all,

Sarah
