Our Lingerie Shopping Guide is now available!! | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

The official Own Boudoir Lingerie Shopping Guide is here!

We’ve gone through seven years of helping clients and photographers know where to find the best lingerie, the best body chains, the perfect off-the-shoulder sweaters, and not-too-tight thigh highs, and heels that are the perfect height. I have no idea why it didn’t occur to us before now that we needed to officially write out our guide, but I’d like to think that we’ve used the last 7 years to real perfect our suggestions!

The point of this guide is to direct clients (and photographers!) toward the best stores for outfitting a boudoir session. Searching for lingerie, for heels, for garter belts, and for ANYTHING that you’re wearing in your boudoir session can be quite daunting and overwhelming. Go ahead, Google ‘lace corset’, you’ll find thousands of results. We’ve narrowed down the best places to shop so that you don’t have to scroll through the maze of the internet. Boudoir sessions can already be a little intimidating and cause a case of nerves, we don’t want you to get more nervous or intimidated because of the shopping element.

So, without further ado, our Lingerie Shopping Guide is here! Click on the link below to download the guide!

Happy shopping!,

Sarah and the OWN team

You'll never stay dry with this boudoir set ... | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

(The title of this blog post had me trying to figure out how to write an introduction that included both the words ‘boudoir’ and ‘wet’, but I couldn’t figure it out without wanting to make a dirty joke… so this is what you get)

Shower sessions have become one of our most popular requests. I mean, think about it:

You’re (hopefully) used to taking a shower, and so it isn’t as foreign to you as putting on a strap-heavy set of underpants

It requires very little posing instruction (due to the familiarity of knowing how to take a shower)

Hot and steamy skin looks sexyyyyyyy

These images are completely unexpected when one thinks about ‘lingerie photos’ (aka boudoir photographs).

For 2019 we’ve taken our shower set-up up a notch and we’ve made it an entirely separate add-on for your sessions. This way we can specifically create a shower backdrop just for you and based on the inspiration images that we discuss before your shoot. Believe it or not, most of the shower images don’t feature a real shower :) but you’ll have to come in studio to figure out our secrets.

Top 5 ways to prepare for your boudoir session! | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

You’ve booked your boudoir session, but how do you prepare for the big day? Here are our top 5 tips for preparing for your boudoir session!

atlanta boudoir photographer, bridal boudoir, wedding boudoir ideas, boudoir tips, best boudoir tips

  1. Start stretching

In our client guide we joke around that a boudoir session with us is more like a pilates session than a sexy photoshoot. Sure, you’re in lingerie (or not!) and the resulting images are absolutely stunning, but getting stunning images requires a lot more physical strain than you’d think. While many of our clients book with the intention of using boudoir as work-out motivation, I’ll tell you that working out is way less important than stretching. Get your body used to twisting and arching and bending by stretching a few times a week. It’ll help you immensely during (and after!) the session, plus it’s healthy for you!

  2. Gather inspiration images

While we don’t copy other photographer’s work, or even copy exact poses I’ve done with other clients, we love to see images that you’re inspired by. Sending in inspiration images helps us to plan out your session, suggest different outfits, understand your goals, and set expectations (we don’t have a claw-foot tub overlooking the Swiss alps here in the studio, so we’d have to reset your expectations if you sent us a shot like that). Sending in inspiration photos is especially helpful if you really have NO idea what you like. Browsing images will help you to figure out what styles, poses, outfits, etc that you are most drawn to and will give us a great jumping off point for your session.

  3. Respond to our emails

That may seem sarcastic to you, but seriously, we’re just trying to help you out! We send questionnaires (two, to be exact), and planning questions to our clients throughout our planning process. These are designed to make sure that there are no unknowns when you walk into our studio. We will know your favorite music (and have it playing), whether or not you want to go nude, when your deadlines are, your favorite side of your face, etc. Our questions also help your to think of more questions to as us (which is especially great if you have no idea where to begin). So, please.. let us help you!

  4. Try on your lingerie/outfits

This should seem like a given, but so many clients come into the studio and haven’t tried on the items that they want to wear for the shoot. At that point, if something doesn’t fit correctly or has a hole in it then there is no time to order or shop for a new one. I’ve heard “oh man, I don’t like this as much as I thought I would” about a million times. While we have items in our boudoir closet that we often supplement into client’s wardrobe selections, we definitely don’t want that to be your only option (especially if you ordered something you were really excited about). Trying on your wardrobe beforehand gives you (and us) an opportunity to intercept any wardrobe issues, PLUS it gets your more comfortable with wearing it, which in turn helps when you’re wearing it on camera.

  5. Speak up

Have a question about privacy? Wondering if we can cover up the tattoo you got at age 18? Going through a rough patch in your relationship? Wondering if we can accommodate symptoms of your auto-immune disease? Don’t be afraid to speak up and let us know, even if it’s just to ask us not to ask you about something (read that sentence 4 times to understand it, haha!). But really, let us know what is going on with you or if you’ve got a question or an idea that may seem ‘weird’ to you. I promise that after 10 years and over 3000 clients, we’ve likely encountered almost anything you could approach us with AND handled it for the best.

Have you ever seen an outfit or an image that inspires you so much that you MUST recreate it? You scour the internet to find an exact skirt (or coat, or hat, or pair of shoes, or whatever) only to find it and realize it has been sold out for 4 years. It’s so frustrating, and I have definitely been there.

A couple of weeks ago we had a client bring in an amazing blue faux-fur coat. Of course she had purchased it years ago and it is nowhere to be found on the whole entire internet (yes, I looked). Well everyone LOVED that coat (check out our Instagram to see it!), especially one client that was due to have her boudoir session the following week. This client then came up with one of the most brilliant hacks we’ve seen in order to recreate the look of the blue coat.

Check out her version of the blue coat, and then check out where she found it!

AND…. here is the fantastic $30 blanket that created that gorgeous boudoir piece:

Looking to buy one of these for your own boudoir session? I’m craving to shoot the dusty pink version! Vintage vibes for sure. Find the blanket here.

How did she react to her boudoir photos? | Client Interview | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

This wonderful woman not only has one of the coolest jobs I’ve ever heard of, but she also masquerades as a certified babe underneath all of those scrubs. Getting to catch her in-between flights (flights that she takes because she’s on her way to save someone’s LIFE) was such a privilege. Her boudoir session was full of questions from both Kari (her hair and makeup artist) and I. After hounding her with questions about how her job works and where it takes her we were able to shut up for a few hours and create a beautiful collection of images. Read below to hear about her experience and check out her images!

1) How old are you... or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

Currently 28

2) What do you do for a living? Or... How do you typically spend your days?

Flight nurse is my real job. But if I’m not treating patients, you can find me curled up with a good book and a comfy blanket.

3) What prompted you to consider booking a boudoir session?

Everyone deserves to feel beautiful. And these pics did just that for me!

atlanta boudoir photographer, boudoir photography, own boudoir, boudoir reviews, atlanta boudoir reviews

4) Fears and hesitations are common when it comes to boudoir! What (if any) fears or hesitations did you have with regards to your session?

Like everyone, I have certain aspects of my body that I might not like a well as others. But my session made me fall in love with all my “flaws”. It’s also a little intimidating to “bare it all” to a stranger; however, once I met everyone those worries flew out the window.

5) Thank you so much for choosing OWN! What was it about us that made you choose us for your boudoir session?

I have stalked the Instagram page for a long while. I love the style of all the photos. And the insta stories made me feel like we were best friends.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

Gah, it was sooo much fun. I recommend everyone try it at least once. I was nervous that I would be awkward. I might have actually been awkward, but I was made to feel like I rocked my shoot. My pics prove that I did because I had an awesome instructor.

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (primping, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

Seeing the end product is always the best part, however to have a day where you get a whole day about you is probably the most memorable part of the experience.

8) How has the response been to your images?

Girl! My images have been a hit! It’s neat to see what stands out the most to different people. I have gotten nothing but A+ responses!!

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session (aside from "JUST DO IT!!!")?

Everyone deserves to feel sexy, beautiful. Love the skin you’re in and let the lady with the camera do the rest. ;)

10) What has changed about the way you see your OWN beauty?

I might see “flaws” but looking through a lens of a camera I know now that even flaws are beautiful.

Here's WHEN you should book your boudoir session | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Wondering when the best time to book your boudoir session is? Look no further than this post! Here we have listed all of the deadlines and date information that you need!

Here’s an example of our best selling package: An 8x8 album holding 25 images, a custom USB holding 25 full resolution digital images, and a complimentary mini album!

Here’s an example of our best selling package: An 8x8 album holding 25 images, a custom USB holding 25 full resolution digital images, and a complimentary mini album!

This post is designed to set you up for success, ensuring that you never miss the cut-off date for the holidays and making sure you know JUST how long it takes to get your album back so that you’ve got the perfect birthday gift. We had a LOT of sad emails this past season because we were booked to capacity and could not accommodate last-minute requests for boudoir gifts. While we don’t mind being booked up, we do hate having to send the “NO VACANCY” email to clients that are so excited to work with us.

In order to help solve that problem I wanted to our clients know now (yes, in January) what the deadlines are for the ENTIRE year. This helps you to plan out your boudoir session, and probably gives you a bit of relief since you now know exactly how much time you’ll need between your session and your requested delivery date. I’m hoping that this helps us all have a little less anxiety next year as we are planning your boudoir session!

The bonus of having these dates out now? You can go ahead and get a head start on booking your session, giving you first dibs on dates and times (also remember that weekend availability is only available to book until January 31st, meaning if you’d like a weekend in November then it’s best to snag it now!).

A couple of things:

  • Print Deadline means this is when your session needs to happen in order to have your images printed (be it in an album, prints, or otherwise)

  • Digital Deadline means this is when your session needs to happen in order to receive your images digitally only.

Now for the big picture!

  • General boudoir delivery deadlines (gift for yourself, birthdays, anniversaries, new job, etc)

    • Printed Images- No less than 2 weeks before your deadline

    • Digital Images- No less than 1 week before your deadline

  • Valentine’s Day-

    • Printed Images- January 31, 2019

    • Digital Images- February 3, 2019

  • Hanukkah and Christmas 2019

    • Printed Images- December 3, 2019

    • Digital Images- December 13, 2019

And there you have it! These are all of the major deadlines that you’ll need to keep in mind when booking your boudoir session with OWN. Our travel schedule during the summer and fall will affect availability for sessions, but not shipping of products!

It's not always about the veil | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

What do you wear for your bridal boudoir session if you’re not really in to the whole “bridal” thing?

While most of our clients have chosen to have their boudoir session for themselves, we do a have quite a few that choose to give the gift of their boudoir photos for birthdays, anniversaries, deployments, and of course as a wedding gift! But, what if bridal veils and garters aren’t exactly your style?

We get this question quite often from our bridal boudoir clients, and it really allows us to help curate a wardrobe for their shoot that they feel represents their OWN self. As we’re planning your session we will discuss images you are drawn to and the different outfits that you plan to bring with you. If the traditional bridal accessories don’t really excited you then tell us! To be honest, we will probably ask you about it, but just in case we don’t you had better veto any tiaras and white stockings that we try to suggest for you.

If you’re looking for non-traditional wardrobe choices for your bridal session, but still want to keep the ivory and white color scheme we have a few suggestions for where to shop.

One of our favorite places as of recent is Free People. Free people has been stepping up their ‘intimates’ category lately and they have gorgeous selections of robes, crop tops, body suits, tanks, bra sets, sheer gowns, etc. Here is one of my favorite pieces that would look great with a sheer bra (or nothing!) underneath.

Sunday boudoir smiles in one of our favorite lingerie brands! | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

It’s a warm, winter Sunday here in Atlanta. This of course calls for smiles!

BlueBella lingerie is one of our favorite brands to photograph. Their lingerie is unique, it is carried in a wide range of sizes, and it always photographs so well. I love recommending this brand to our boudoir clients because they’ve USUALLY never heard of BlueBella before (except that I keep blabbing about them, so that might no longer be true).

Check them out at www.bluebella.us

A gorgeous couple's boudoir session | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

***This is a revisit to a past post showcasing one of our first “official” couple’s sessions of 2018. We often get asked about whether or not we photograph couple’s boudoir. The answer is “yes” we definitely photograph couples! The catch is that you won’t see many of them on our website because of privacy requests. For that reason I wanted to share this session, which we gained permission to share. Yay for couple’s! Want to have your own couple’s session in 2019? We’re game if you are!

Here is a glimpse into one of our first couple's boudoir sessions for 2018.

One of our biggest announcements for 2018 was that we were OFFICIALLY offering couple's sessions as an option with our boudoir packages. We're a few months into 2018 and we've had SO much interest in bringing two significant others together to document their intimacy. Here is a peek into our very first couple's session of the year.

Here's the deal on keeping your boudoir images private | Atlanta Boudoir photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Your boudoir images are really the very definition of "sensitive material", and we totally understand. We have a variety of privacy options for our clients so that each boudoir session can be done without any question of how your images will be seen!

I will say I'm a bit surprised that we don't get MORE questions about our privacy policy when it comes to boudoir images! I'm flattered of course that our clients are coming into their sessions ready to share their images with the world. However, for those that have a few more reservations about their images being seen we've got a few options for owning your digitals in confidence.

When you book a boudoir session with OWN boudoir, whether you're coming in to our Atlanta studio or we're coming to you, we sign a contract to set the expectations for the shoot! Our standard contract outlines what is included in your session, any additional fees, the location for the session, etc. It also lets you know just how your images will or won't be used. For our standard contract (the one that goes out to everyone, unless you ask specifically for a different one) your photos are shareable ONLY if they are anonymous.

Anonymous photos by OWN's definition are those photos that don't include any full faces, personal tattoos (like those that say your name or anyone's name), company logos, or very specific physical traits (example: birthmarks, prosthetics, etc).

Most of our clients choose this contract for their shoot because they WANT to show their images off, but want to make sure their high-school students, work friends, or nosy relatives don't have a conniption.

For clients that would like to make sure that there are no photos shared ever ever ever everrrrrrrrr, we have a version of our contract that is so creatively titled as the "Non-Sharing" contract. When we sign this together, OWN waives the right to share any of your images from your session, no matter how anonymous they are. We can even go a step further and opt-out of back your files up to the cloud or sending you a downloadable gallery.

What if you don't mind sharing all of your boudoir images with our future clients? We ask for a written statement saying that you give permission for us to use your images. This way all of us are on the same page (and also so that I don't have a panic attack trying to make sure that I'm following your preferences).

While these three options for your images are what is pretty standard here at OWN boudoir, if you have a specific request or question about your boudoir images then let's talk! Creating your perfect boudoir session can't happen unless we talk!

Send me all of your demands,

Sarah

Get featured on our website! | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Are you interested in featuring your boudoir images on our homepage? You can be an Atlanta boudoir client, a Chicago boudoir client, a San Francisco client, a boudoir client from Mars....  it doesn't exactly matter.

Last night we sent out a mass email to our past boudoir clients asking if they’d like to be featured on our website! If you’re a past client and did NOT get that email (but would still like the grace the pages of our website) please let us know!

See, it’s been a hot neon second (which is a term I definitely just made up) since I’ve added new images to the homepage of our website. We update our blog and instagram constantly, but that first page hasn’t been updated in about a year and a half.

Cue the “slacker” comments, because OMG I know. Sorry folks. It’s not like it takes up that much more time than a blog post (like this one), it’s just that I have such a hard time knowing what to feature!

This is where my brilliant idea came in to let my past clients have a say in what get’s featured. As a photographer I of course have my favorite images, but a boudoir experience isn’t about me creating images for myself. A boudoir experience – your boudoir experience – is about you and creating images that you love and that elevate you.

SO.

Are you a past client that did not see our email but would absolutely like to be featured? Let me know! I can’t wait to showcase the new homepage!

Check out the new piece debuting in our boudoir closet | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

When you're preparing for your boudoir session it can be quite overwhelming to try and find the perfect pieces that will make the perfect photograph. Insert the studio boudoir closet.

Over time we've curated quite the collection of items for clients to choose from that we KNOW will photograph perfectly. Having this closet of wardrobe unmentionables saves you a little bit of time and stress during boudoir planning, and don't we alllllll want to be saved from those things? We've got shoes, corsets, handcuffs, button-down shirts, tank tops, etc. Occasionally we'll switch things over, especially as styles change. No one needs to bring in that hot-pink rhinestone bra from Victoria's Secret circa 2002.

A brand new veil just arrived in our Atlanta studio via Amazon (holla at me, Amazon, if you want to sponsor us)! For a solid $24 we've got the most beautiful veil, accessible to any boudoir client that wants to use it. This is perfect for brides that don't want to (or can't) break out their own veil for their boudoir session. Plus it's just fun to play dress-up with!

A look back in time | Atlanta Boudoir photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Occasionally I'll look back at my past work to see just how far I've come, but also to revisit some of my favorite boudoir session.

Looking back on my past work is definitely eye-opening. I can see how my style has evolved over the years and I can also ask myself WTF I was thinking when I edited a photo in a certain way. Luckily I have resisted most of the editing trends over the last 5 years and so my past work is more consistent with my current style than when I was first starting out as a boudoir photographer. We love to get in touch with our past clients and have recently started congratulating clients on their 'Boudoir-aversary'! When we reach out to celebrate boudoir-aversaries I tend to look back at those past sessions. I say this to say, I've now gone down an insane rabbit hole of past sessions and I'm currently deep into the year 2013.

As I've gone down this boudoir photography rabbit hole I have pulled a few of my favorite images from the past! Here are just a few boudoir images that I vividly remember taking. I've got about 40K final images to go through, so this was definitely just a quick skim :)

Side note: We're having a little shindig on July 15th! This is for past clients, current clients, and future clients alike! Come say hello, see some favorite images, drink our drinks, and win some prizes. Link for (free) tickets: HERE

Boudoir Interview!!!! | Atlanta boudoir

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

Reading the words of past clients and hearing them talk about their OWN experience helps me (Sarah) and the OWN team know where we went right. When past clients have come in for a 2nd (or third or fourth or fifth) go around, then we REALLY pay attention... and you should to.

We first met this lovely woman a couple of years ago (as she tells you in this interview). She was going through some things and I love that we were able to reconnect again for her second shoot with us. She brought in some custom made cowboy boots, so just wait until you see those. She also is one of the most caring and focused people I've ever met and that makes me feel so honored that she chose us again. I basically just want to sing her praises for the next 72 paragraphs, but I'll spare you and let you figure it out yourself.

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

My first session was 2 years ago. I was single at the time. Struggling with self esteem and self image my whole life because of constant bullying in school. I suffer from a birth injury that resulted in a alter walking gait. Of course kids always point these things out which in return made me very self conscious and shy. As an adult I have worked hard on myself to break through those emotions, however at 25 I still felt like I had so much farther to go. That’s when I heard about boudoir and thought this might be just what I need to over come my childhood insecurity and feel like  the confident, beautiful woman I had become.

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

My fears were of course taking the photos and only seeing everything I hate about my body. I gained over 30lbs in college, and struggled to loose the weight while working 12 hour night shifts at the hospital. When I decided to do my first boudoir shoot I also decided to live a healthier life style and was able to loose 30lbs and feel better in the long run.

5) Why did you choose OWN?

Honestly, I did a shoot with a local photographer in Rome GA. The finish product was not what I had imagined . So, I went to google and read reviews, looked at portfolios and that’s where I found OWN.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

It was nothing like I expected! My first session with another photographer I had to bring my own lingerie and come up with my own location and posses. That photographer didn’t really encourage me or couch me. It was a very awkward experience, so I was very nervous that that was just how these sessions would be. However, from the first email with Sarah the experience was completely different. She was very responsive, encouraging and knowledgeable. She also took care of everything from make up, hair, backdrop, and poses. She made me feel like a very important super model. A strange yet empowering experience. That’s when I realized it’s not about the pictures, it’s about the entire experience that gives you that confidence you are looking for.

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

My favorite part was shooting and of course seeing the images. The sessions were both just so much fun, but of course nothing beats the excitement of seeing the finished product where it super hard to only pick a few imagines to take home.

8) How has the response been to your images?

At the time of my first image they were just for me. Not long after the first session I found a great guy who I am not engaged to two years later. He loves those first pictures I did. He uses one as my contact photo on his phone. He has not seen my bridal picture yet, however after hearing his responses to the first photos. I was able to really focus on the things he loves about me physically in the bridal session. I can’t wait for him to see those at our wedding.

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

Just do it! Like Nike, haha. You will not regret it. Especially, if you struggle with self image or scares those seen and unseen you need this. It will allow you to see the real you not just the altered version of yourself that can be painful to look at . When you have this experience and have those photos it makes those ruts we all get into thinking about how we wish we looked like a celebrity that much easier to get through and realize you are one of a kind and beautiful just the way you are.

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

I have always struggled with a mentality that I assume everyone only sees my disability. I always get theses feelings that people are not

Going to like me or think I’m beautiful  or sexy because of my birth injury. My 2 sessions have really helped me over come those feeling of feeling like I am never good enough and that is with more then any therapy I could have experienced.

Her husband chimed in, see what he said to us! | Client interview- Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

I'd like to take this opportunity to request that any RECIPIENTS of boudoir photos take the time to write in to us right now! Once your read this interview you'll know exactly why. When boudoir is given as a gift I rarely get to hear the opinions of the recipient! My favorite part of this session, outside of having an absolute blast with this client and really being able to create a gorgeous set of images for her is that she let her husband chime in on some of these answers. We are getting a GEM of information, and just try not to 'awwwww' as you read his words.

When this lovely women walked in to my studio I knew she was nervous, but most clients are! We had been planning her session for a while and even though she was nervous she told me that she was down for whatever because deep inside she knew that she 100% trusted me! Her images reflect that trust, and no matter what kind of medical history or physical history she had she knew that she was in great hands. Her session was so much fun and by the time she walked out of the door you never would have known she was even a tad bit reserved about having a boudoir session.

Read her interview (along with her husband's comments) below,

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

A few years ago my girlfriend started looking into a session as a gift for her fiancé for their wedding. I thought it was a great idea (obviously!) but more than that thought it would be an incredible experience. Since then I’ve been looking for a reason to book a session.

When I got engaged I thought ‘This is it! I’m booking!’ It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for myself for a long time and I would encourage anyone remotely interested in the idea to not wait. It’s so empowering.

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

Sure! Everyone has their own insecurities. My weight has fluctuated throughout most of my life in part because of health issues. Doing this shoot was an important reminder to me that my goal should always be to be proud of the body that I have. Sarah did an amazing job bringing out that confidence in me.

5) Why did you choose OWN?

Sarah highlights the beauty in each person that she photographs. I found myself looking on her Instagram several times a day leading up to the shoot. And every picture she posted I loved more than the one before.  She truly brings the best out in people.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

I had a feeling it was going to be a great experience. And it was.  The only thing that might have been different from what I expected was how comfortable I felt as soon as the shoot started.  I thought it might take me a while to feel at ease with the process but that didn't happen.  I thought "I've been waiting for this for a long time and I just need to enjoy every minute of it.  No need to be nervous!" And of course Sarah made it easy. She makes you feel like you've known her forever and has personal touches that instantly make you feel more at home...music you like, food you enjoy and your favorite drinks!

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

The shoot for sure! I was definitely nervous the morning leading up to the shoot but once I got there it was just a blast. Getting makeup and hair done is always so fun and then shooting the pictures was such a unique experience. It is something I've never done before and having Sarah show me some of the pictures as we went along was awesome!

8) How has the response been to your images?

I went straight to the source and asked my new husband for his thoughts...

"There was never a doubt from myself or anyone that's met her that my wife is absolutely stunning both inside and out. Her personality, smile and beauty light up any room she walks into. Sometimes it might be hard for her to see what others do from her own perspective, but the pictures from the shoot served as an affirmation that allowed her to appreciate how beautiful she is in a way that everyone else sees on a daily basis. It re-instilled a confidence that truly needed no affirmation to begin with, but once in a while it's ok to have a reminder that we need to appreciate and love ourselves and our own beauty, and these pictures allowed her to do that in a very positive way"

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session?

Do it.  Just do it.  Start to finish it is such an empowering experience. I know I've said 'empowering' several times in answering these questions but it is the best word to describe a shoot with Sarah.  She's the world's best cheerleader and makes you feel completely comfortable with yourself.  You leave feeling like you're on top of the world.

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

I have my album out on the coffee table!  Sarah made me feel proud of myself and my body. I'm incredibly thankful for this experience.

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

I saw my friend Kate's photos with you and was blown away. I didn't realize it was a "thing" brides even started doing for their husbands, but I figured, why not?! I'd already been working hard on my body for the wedding, I wanted to capture it in photos not only for Bryan but for ME to have forever!!!

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

I don't really see myself as sexy, so I was nervous if that would show through in the images, and if I would feel awkward trying to pose. You made those go away!
